Mondo Kayo Social and Marching Club

Caribbean and tropical Carnival in New Orleans!

Since 1982, the Mondo Kayo Social and Marching Club has brought the color and joy of Caribbean Carnival to the streets of New Orleans. The club has one of only five official marching group permits issued by the City of New Orleans. We march on Mardi Gras morning, following Pete Fountain's Half-Fast Marching Club and coming before the Krewe of Zulu. Our route starts at Third and Magazine Streets, turns onto St. Charles Avenue, passing through Lee Circle, saluting the Mayor at Gallier Hall, with a triumphant dance down Canal St., ending at Canal and Rampart. Following the official route, we continue to Jackson Square, and come to rest at Chartres and Frenchmen Streets around mid-day. We dance and play there until dark.

On Mardi Gras Day 2012, someone appropriated our club banner for purposes unknown. Do not accept any false Mondo Kayo Social and Marching Clubs! The banner was restored on March 7, 2012 in a secret meeting on North Rampart St., across from Armstrong Park. The finder was an alert Tulane Medical School student. He has proved his worth and has been invited to join the organization for next year. All hail!
